FACHPACK 2025 – Premiere for Glassine by SiOPack®
For the first time, round tins with a glassine paper viewing window – as transparent as plastic, 100% recyclable in the paper stream.
The premiere at FACHPACK 2025
At this year’s FACHPACK, together with our partner Optima, we presented a true innovation:
the first retail tins with a viewing window made of glassine paper – featuring Glassine by SiOPack®.
The response to this novelty was overwhelming: round tins that offer a clear view of the product, yet are fully recyclable in the paper stream. This makes glassine paper a serious replacement for plastic in display packaging.
Honored with international sustainability awards
Our premiere at FACHPACK was not only enthusiastically received by visitors – it has also gained international recognition.
Glassine by SiOPack® will receive the prestigious Green Apple Environment Award on November 17, 2025, at the House of Lords, London.
The technology has already been honored with the Green Brand Award – another strong signal that SiOPack® is setting new benchmarks for sustainable packaging solutions.
This officially confirms what we are experiencing in the market: Our solution combines sustainability, innovation and practical usability – and sets new standards in packaging.
Why this innovation matters so much
100% plastic-free – recyclable via the paper recycling bin-
No extra effort in processing – the barrier can be applied afterwards in flexographic printing -
Versatile – suitable for various grammages, already proven in sample series
Our plastic-free drinking cups attracted particularly great attention 
– a topic that will come into even sharper focus in several European markets from 2026 at the latest, driven by regulatory requirements.
But this is only the beginning. 
The next stage of development: the all-in-one barrier
We are already working on the “all-in-one barrier“, which
- integrates an oxygen barrier into glassine paper,
- significantly increases transparency
- and opens up new possibilities for product protection, shelf life and on-shelf visibility.
Brand manufacturers and leading discounters have signaled that such a solution is needed to package private labels in a way that is more sustainable, more visible and better protected at the same time.
As things stand today, the barrier can also be applied in flexographic printing. This would allow converters to upgrade glassine papers themselves – independently of the paper mill.
The result is a unique combination of transparency + oxygen barrier – something that conventional glassine papers have not been able to offer so far.
This innovation opens up the opportunity to bring even more products to market without plastic in the future – with SiOPack® as the key technology.

FACHPACK has shown: The future of packaging is paper-based, visible and plastic-free.
