Metals & Metal Surfaces

Nanocoatings for metals and metal surfaces.

Stainless steel, aluminium, galvanised steel: metal surfaces face moisture, corrosion and heavy daily use. The NP® Liquid Glass technology supports corrosion protection while appearance and feel remain unchanged.

NP® Liquid Glass

Protected.

Protected surface, corrosion attack reduced.

  • Water and dirt bead off
  • Reduced corrosion attack (744 h salt spray)
  • Detectable after 5,000 abrasion cycles
  • Appearance and feel unchanged
Untreated

Unprotected.

Moisture and salts drive corrosion.

  • Moisture attacks the surface
  • Corrosion spreads over time
  • Dirt adheres to the metal
  • Intensive cleaning and upkeep

Metal, protected at the surface.

The NP® Liquid Glass technology creates an ultra-thin, transparent protective layer on metal surfaces. Through targeted functionalisation, water- and dirt-repellent properties are achieved without significantly changing the appearance, feel, or technical properties of the metal.

The characteristic surface structure remains intact, while the surface is supported against moisture, contamination, and environmental influences that promote corrosion. Cleaning and maintenance are facilitated, supporting long-term corrosion protection.

Independently evaluated

Tested. Verified. Proven.

The performance of the NP® Liquid Glass technology for metal surfaces has been tested by independent testing and research institutes: suitability for food contact applications, corrosion resistance under salt spray exposure, and coating durability under mechanical abrasion.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

The most common questions about protecting metals and metal surfaces.

No. The transparent NP® protective layer has been developed to preserve the natural appearance and surface structure of the metal.

Yes. Independent tests show that NP® treated metal surfaces exhibit lower corrosion attack under corrosive conditions compared with untreated reference samples.

The protective effect was tested using a Taber Abraser over 5,000 abrasion cycles. The coating remained detectable through contact angle measurements after testing.

Yes. Independent tests confirm compliance with Regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004 and the requirements of the German Food and Consumer Goods Act (LFGB).

Yes. By protecting high-quality metal surfaces, extending service life, reducing cleaning requirements, and supporting corrosion protection, the technology can contribute to sustainable material and utilisation concepts.
